This weekend should be quite a big one for online tournament players as both PokerStars and FullTilt Poker have big events going on at the same time. The 15th installment of FullTilt Poker’s Online Tournament Series ends on Sunday with a trio of big events with huge guarantees. We are already 17 events into the 27-tournament schedule FTOPS and the series has been a big hit. FullTilt professionals have been hosting every event including some of the most famous players in the world like Erik Seidel, Michael Gracz, Richard “CHUFTY” Ashby, Haseeb “DOGISHEAD” Qureshi, Chris Ferguson, and Gavin Smith.
The final events of the series are also its biggest. Starting on Saturday is the $2,000,000 Guaranteed 2-day Event. This tournament is only for those with big bankrolls as the buy-in is $2,500+$120! Replacing the Sunday Brawl on Sunday is the $240+$16 buy-in Event #25. They have doubled the typical guarantee up to $800,000 and will still pay $40 to a player every time he/she eliminates a fellow opponent. Finally, the FTOPS Main Event is a $500+$35 buy-in $2,500,000 Guaranteed event hosted by five-time WSOP winner Allen Cunningham. This tournament has been quite a hit in the past and tends to pay out more than $400,000 to the winner.
Coincidentally the 4-year anniversary of the PokerStars Sunday Million is this weekend and Stars has once again proven it can throw a party like no other. The Sunday Million is typically a $200+$15 buy-in $1,500,000 guaranteed event but this weekend PokerStars is bumping the guarantee to $4,000,000 and over $1,000,000 to the winner. The Sunday Million has seen some highs and lows since its inception but has generally been regarded as the biggest weekly event on the internet the past two years. Satellites are running around the clock and starting as low as 100 Frequent Player Points or $1+$.10.
The 4-year Anniversary bash goes right along with their 40 Billion Hand Promotion which has been paying out extra cash to players all week for hitting their “milestone hands”. Every time another million hands is dealt, the lucky players at the milestone table will all be awarded $40 for every VPP he/she earned for the 40 previous hands played at that table. All players at the table are guaranteed $40 and the winner of the millionth hand will receive double prize money! Tournament players are not only rewarded with the Sunday Million Promotion but there are currently 40FPP buy-in tournaments running bi-daily with $40,000 prize pools. Finally, SNG players can participate in a special series with different buy-in levels. If you happen to win any of the $1.10, $11, $22, or $55 SNGs you will gain a portion of $40,000.
