PKR.com Review
PKR offers one of the most unique online poker experiences available. With their powerful 3d software, you are able to customize your character in ways previously only possible in video games. You can choose what they look like, what they wear, and even effect their body language to throw off your opponents.
This type of 3d environment has not gone unnoticed in the poker playing community either. PKR is one of the fastest growing sites today, regularly having from 6 - 8,000 players on-line and peaking at more than 11,000 players at a time, although several thousand may be playing at the play money tables. However, with such unique software their player base is sure to continue to grow.
PKR.com Software and Interface/Usability
The lobby at PKR is very well laid out and easy to navigate. There are separate tabs for play money and real money and each game type also has its own tab. From the tab you can click on a table and see the players at that table, their location, and stack size. This makes game selection easier as you can be sure you're sitting down at a juicy table. You can also sort the tables in a variety of ways and change the display to meet your needs. Other tabs include options, my account, a friends tab, help, and me.
Playing at PKR is like playing a poker video game, except that you can do it for real money. The graphics are incredible and you can customize almost everything, from the camera view to how you're character appears and acts. You can even perform chip tricks to show off your mad skills and intimidate your opponents. Additionally you can use your PKR Points to customize your character even further by purchasing additional options, such as even more chip tricks or different clothing and accessories (although there are enough options for free to keep most people happy). There are also several phrases that you can choose from in the chat, which your character will then say out loud. The "Me" tab in the main lobby is where you will customize your character by updating your wardrobe and other character attributes.
One feature that may be cool at first but could get old quick is that your hole cards aren't displayed on the screen at all times. If you want to see your cards you have to hit a button that says "look at cards" and your character will peak at his cards, which will display in a small screen, much like you would see with poker on television.
Hand histories are automatically saved to your computer, making it easier to look back and review your play. However, they are not organized very well, so if you are looking for a specific hand you might have some trouble. There is also a tab on your live table that allows you to go through instant hand histories. PKR is not compatible with programs like Hold'em Manager or Poker Tracker, so you wont get any help there in reviewing your sessions. Consequently, when you combine not having tracking support with all its tricks and slick graphics, this software doesn't do well with multiple tables. In fact, the maximum number of tables that allows you to play for real money is four at one time. If you do open up multiple tables, one table will be displayed in full screen view, with all other tables in a mini-view on the side. So although it may not be the first choice for grinding out a roll, its definitely a lot of fun and worth some time to change things up... and maybe stack a fish or two in the process.
PKR Game Types, Action, and Difficulty
PKR's game selection is limited to Texas Hold'em or Omaha.
Cash Games
Currently the only games offered are limit, pot-limit and no-limit Texas Hold'em as well as limit and pot-limit Omaha. The majority of the action will be taking place on the No-Limit Hold'em tables, at low to mid-stakes, with not many Omaha tables running at all.
Sit-N-Go’s
Most of the sit & go action will be at the smaller stakes ($11 and below), although PKR offers sit & go's with buy-ins ranging from $.40 to $200. These will also be softer games than at most sites. Recently, they have also added two other varieties of sit & go; a "double thru" (10 person table, top 5 double their buy-in), and a "winner takes all" (6 person table, and like it says, winner takes all). PKR also has "terminator tournaments", in which a portion of the buy-in is used as a "bounty" on your head. In this tournament you get a bounty on each player you knock out, and the more players you knock out, the more the bounty on your head grows, making you a more enticing target.
Scheduled Tournaments
PKR offers a wide variety of scheduled tournaments including daily freerolls and guaranteed payouts. Their larger weekly tournaments include the $20,000 guaranteed "Saturday Showdown" ($55 buy-in) and the $25,000 guaranteed "Sunday Classic" ($65 buy-in). They also offer satellites with low buy-ins and some that you can purchase with your PKR points.
Player Base and Action
The amount of players online can be a little deceiving at PKR poker, because while they often have 8,000+ at the tables, many of them will be at the play money tables. However, the players that are playing for real money will generally be giving you some great action. Low and mid-stakes No Limit Hold'em cash games is where you'll find most of the real money players. You shouldn't have any problems finding tables at stakes up to about $100nl, and you shouldn't have any trouble finding plenty of fish seemingly giving away money.
You can count on most of the players to be playing here because it "looks cool". Also, because the software is not really multi-table friendly, you wont find many sharks sitting at these tables, although the rocks are always out there. Definitely one of the fishiest sites out there and well worth playing even just occasionally, and as the site continues to grow you can expect even better games at PKR.
PKR.com Bonus and Loyalty Programs
There are several different bonus offerings available at PKR. The entry level bonus of $50 is available using the bonus code PKR02. Simply earn 7500 PKR points within three months time and your account will be credited with the $50. According to PKR.com, this can be accomplished in as few as 50 raked hands.
The second bonus, available using the code PKR01, offers free cash equal to 50% of your first deposit, up to $250. Every 200 PKR Points earns you $1 in bonus money, but be careful, partial bonuses will not be paid, and it must be cleared within 60 days of your deposit. This complete bonus will require 50,000 PKR Points.

Earning PKR Points is based on the amount of money you put into a raked pot. Its a little confusing, but their website explains it best - “PKR Points are awarded on raked hands played on real money tables. They are calculated against the amount that you’ve put into the pot divided between the other players at the table. That means the bigger the pot, the more PKR Points everyone gets. Your points are also based on the amount that you put into the pot – so the more you contribute yourself, the more PKR Points you’ll earn in the hand.
Example - In a 4 handed cash game with a $50 pot raked at $2.50 a player who bet a total of $9 would receive 45 points (reflecting the 18% of the pot they contributed).
You also get 100 PKR Points for every $1 you spend in entry fees.”
Club PKR customer loyalty program
PKR's customer loyalty program is as unique as their software. They employ an "always up, never down" policy. What this means is that once you achieve a certain level in their loyalty program you will remain at that level for life and receive all of the benefits of that level. They have six different levels that a player may achieve, based on the amount of PKR Points the player accumulates:
Member - 5,000 to 35,000 Points
Bronze - 35,001 - 100,000 Points
Silver - 100,001 - 500,000 Points
Gold - 500,001- 1,000,000 Points
Platinum - 1,000,001 - 2,500,000 Points
Diamond - 2,500,001 + points
Benefits of the program include things such as special newsletters, freeroll tournaments and tournament tickets, birthday gifts and a lifetime subscription to Stacked magazine. Of course the further you move up the better the benefits become, and remember, once you move up you never move back down!
PKR.com Customer and Technical Support
PKR's support is on par with what you would expect from a solid poker site. They have several different options for contacting them with questions 24 hours a day. This does includes a live chat option and a simple form for emails (which they answer within a few hours). However, I did not see any phone numbers listed on their contact page. They also have an extensive searchable knowledge base, full of frequently asked questions to find quick solutions to most problems that would arise.
